The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Publishing Culture Industry Promotion Agency said they will stage a 'Visiting Book Fair' in the Czech Republic and Poland from May 12 to 16 with the aim of opening up the Eastern European market with 'K-books.'

The 'Visiting Book Fair' is a business consultation meeting, which annually 3 to 4 times has been taking place since 2015 for overseas market entry of local publishing content. It had a total of 609 export consultations last year by linking 49 local corporations with 108 foreign corporations in Japan, Indonesia, and Spain.

For the first time this year, the 'Visiting Book Fair' will take place in the Czech Republic and Poland. To promote interest in 'K-books,' which have become increasingly popular in the countries of Eastern Europe, there will be a book fair of 'K-books' in Prague, where fiction and children's books are highly developed, between May 12 and 13. This will be followed by export consultations among domestic and international corporations at Warsaw's Palace of Culture and Science, Poland, between May 15 and 16.

Fifteen domestic corporations, including Munhakdongne, MiraeN, and Bookgomb, will participate in this event, with Green Book Agency handling export consultations for 100 commissioned books from domestic publishers that cannot participate directly.

In the Czech Republic, 22 firms, such as Albatros Media, the biggest publishing group in the Czech Republic, and Argo, which has published and translated numerous Korean literary works like those of Han Kang and Jeong Yu-jeong, will take part. In Poland, 25 firms, such as the biggest comprehensive publishing house Znak (S.I.W. ZNAK) and Agora Publishing (Wydawnictwo Agora), will hold export consultations with local publishers.
